CZECH REPUBLIC: Make Your Own Oddsockeater

  • Date: October 21 at 3:15 PM
  • Venue: GW Textile Museum
  • Workshop: Arts & Crafts
  • Age: 7+
  • Duration: 90 min.
  • Director: Galina Miklínová

What it is about…

Learn and make your own creatures, who live alongside us and are responsible for socks that go missing. They eat socks, but only one from each pair.

Illustrator and film director Galina Miklínová presents the story of The Oddsockeaters, and then children will make their own new little family member -- complete with a birth certificate!  For the workshop, children will need to bring their own old odd socks (10-15), buttons (6), beads and wires (3 feet of 0.4-0.5mm thickness).

The Oddsockeaters is the feature film debut of Galina Miklínova, a celebrated Czech director, animator and illustrator. Her films and books have received many nominations and awards. She studied TV and film graphic design in Prague and in the UK. The film The Oddsockeaters won the Children Jury's 1st prize for best animated feature at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival in 2017.
