What it is about...

In partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, the Mt Pleasant Neighborhood Library will show Copernicus' Star (“Gwiazda Kopernika”) released in 2009. It is an animated film for children directed by Zdzislaw Kudla and Andrzej Orzechowski, which tells an abridged life story of the famed 16th century astronomer, Nicolaus Copernicus, one of Poland’s most famous sons. For those who don’t know, Copernicus was the first man to give voice to the notion that the Earth revolved around the sun, rather than the other way around, which was at the time the pervading opinion.

The true highlight of the film is its excellent soundtrack composed by Abel Korzeniowsk.
