Now in its 30th year, the AFI European Union Film Showcase continues its tradition of bringing the best in European cinema to Washington, DC-area audiences. This year's selection of over 40 films includes international film festival award winners, European box office hits and debut works by promising new talents, plus many countries' official Oscar® submissions for Best Foreign Language Film.

Highlights include Michael Haneke's Cannes-premiered HAPPY END, starring Isabelle Huppert and Jean-Louis Trintignant; the U.S. premiere of Austrian actor Josef Hader's hilarious directorial debut WILD MOUSE [WILDE MAUS]; Estonia's prizewinning 2018 Oscar® Selection, NOVEMBER; Haitian filmmaker Raoul Peck's Berlin-debuted THE YOUNG KARL MARX; Agnieszka Holland's eco-satire SPOOR, Poland's 2018 Oscar® Selection; breakout French drama CUSTODY, winner of the Best Director award at the 2017 Venice Film Festival; the U.S. Premiere of Swedish director Jens Assur's bleakly beautiful rural drama RAVENS; and Spain's acclaimed 2018 Oscar® Selection, SUMMER 1993.
