#EUBeachCleanup on Kingman Island

For the second year in a row, the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to the United States is joining Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup taking place on Kingman Island (Anacostia River, Washington DC) on September 21, 2019.

The EU's involvement in this event is part of the global #EUBeachCleanup campaign that seeks to raise awareness about one of the greatest threats confronting our oceans: marine litter. This year, the EU is also teaming up with the United Nations and the Smurfs on beach cleanups taking place in 75 countries across the globe.

Every year millions of tons of trash end up in the oceans. It is estimated that by 2050 there could be more plastic than fish in its waters.

Come and join us to fight marine litter! You can learn more and register here.
