Exprezz Duo, Anna Ciborowska, pianist and Cezariusz Gadzina, saxophonist, bring to Washington a captivating performance and discussion. Exprezz is the meeting of classical and jazz music in one performance. Exprezz Chopin is built on classical works of Frederic Chopin. The acoustic fabric of these works gives the artists a pretext for improvisation in different styles. New musical structures come into being as a result: collages of classical and jazz timbres which the musicians play around with. This leads to new discoveries both for the performers and the listener…
Both artists besides being active performers, are also music organizers and cultural activists. Their view on cultural life is thus up-to-date and versatile. How has the digital shift influenced art and cultural life in general? Should artists stay in the position of “donors” of art works? How does networking change a position of single artists and ensembles? Is it easier to promote artistic productions internationally now? These and some other similar topics will be discussed during their presentation.
