ABOUT THE FILM:
Angel of the Lord 2 | Anděl Páně 2
Directed by: Jiří Strach, 2016, 99 min., in Czech with English subtitles
The angel Petronel wants a new job and his eternal tempter, devil Uriah (Jiří Dvořák), starts to provoke Petronel saying, “Just pick an apple from the tree of knowledge and you will know what only God knows and the way to well-deserved recognition.” In the skirmish, the rare fruit rolls down to Earth. The scatterbrained angel and his friend, the devil, must go and find the apple in the world of people. On Earth, the angel and devil find themselves in a small Czech town on the eve of St. Nicholas Day. After a series of human and “divine” tests, the heroes eventually find that the path to knowledge leads primarily through self-discovery, strength of friendship, love and forgiveness.
Awards: Nominated for the Czech Lion Awards for Best Actor (Ivan Trojan) and Best Supporting Actor (Bolek Polívka).
