The Embassy of Spain welcomes you to its Cultural Center, The Former Residence of the Ambassadors of Spain, for a taste of the best Spain has to offer! Indulge in Spain’s world-class cuisine, experience vibrant cultural performances, learn about education and business opportunities, all while planning your next Spanish getaway!

Featuring Spanish Dance

Starting at 12:00 p.m., guests will be entertained by the Carmen de Vicente Spanish Dance Academy, who will perform several regional dances from Spain including the Sardana, Jota Aragonesa, Basque Country dance, Muñeira, Danza Charra, and of course Flamenco!

Spanish Gastronomy at your Fingertips

Wet your whistle with a sip of sangria, some Spanish wine, or a cold glass of Spanish beer. You can also indulge in a plate of succulent paella, as well as croquettes, Spanish omelette, and Pintxos. Thanks to our participating restaurants and food vendors, you won't go hungry!

Special Exhibit on Spanish Architecture Abroad

The Open House will coincide with two special Spain arts & culture exhibits on contemporary Spanish architecture entitled Export: Spanish Architecture Abroad and Alternativas/Alternatives: XIII Biennial Of Architecture And Urbanism. These two exhibits open on the occasion of AIA/DC Architecture Month in April and will include a Lecture+Film Series throughout the month of May featuring renowned Spanish architects and film screenings.

Giveaways all day long

Be sure to stop by our Tourism Office’s table to enter a raffle to win a flight to Spain! We’ll also be giving away Real Madrid soccer gear to those who use both the #EUOpenHouse hashtag and mention @SpainInTheUSA in their social media posts!

Location: Former Residence of the Ambassadors of Spain, 2801 16th Street NW Washington, D.C. 20009 Please note that the open house WILL NOT be held at the main Embassy building.

Transportation: Street parking is limited and we recommend that visitors use the free EU Open House shuttle buses or public transportation. The closest metro station is Columbia Heights. The following bus lines have stops near the Former Residence S4, S2, S4, S9, 305 & 325.

Accessibility: The Former Residence of the Ambassador is handicapped and stroller accessible through a special entrance at the rear of the building on 15th Street. Please speak with a uniformed guard if you need to use this entrance.
