Dumbarton Oaks invites you to celebrate the 2017 European Month of Culture by exploring the many connections between this historic “home of the humanities” and the vibrant cultural heritage of Europe.
The evening begins with violinist Keir GoGwilt and composer Matthew Aucoin on piano performing works by Bach and Mozart, as well as the premiere of Aucoin’s piece Its Own Accord.
Following the concert, the house and gardens are open to visitors. Staff and fellows are on hand to discuss the house and exhibitions featuring objects from across the institution’s collections. Photographs and personal correspondence illuminate the lives of Dumbarton Oaks’ founders and their connections to European art, politics, and culture.
After exploring the house, enjoy hors d’oeuvres on the Green Terrace and wind your way through one of America’s most magnificent gardens.
