Sculpture Europe (c) Matta Wagnest
The Sound of Art
is the space, is the form, is the time, in which movement can take place. The movement forms the space, defines the time, is the event, is the music.
The exhibition The Sound of Art refers to the fact that music and creativity can be found everywhere. It affects every form of communication, whether in privat, in politics, in the economy, in trade ... locally and globally.
One of the shown art works is Sculpture.Europe. The goal is to emphasize the “united in diversity” and to present the project in this spirit in all EU countries, perhaps during Austria’s EU presidency in 2018. The same material, namely “float.glass”, is used for each country, though colors differ. Floor plans are individually customized for each nation to ensure the sculptures are accessible. This approach aims at representing on the one hand the respect for the individual nations and on the other hand the equality of the basic needs of all people. The transparency of the “glass” material symbolizes the importance of “open communication” in the sense of “passing through”.
