Maroš Šefčovič, European Commission Vice-President, to discuss transatlantic cooperation in the area of strategic foresight, including prospects of a new international foresight network between the United States and the European Union.
As Russia wages the war in Ukraine, the US-EU partnership has once again proven to be of crucial importance and the allies have reached a new level of cooperation. Nevertheless, these testing times underline the need to deepen strategic collaboration, particularly in across the areas of energy security and decarbonization. By working together, while being guided by strategic foresight, the US and the EU will be better placed to address geopolitical challenges and security threats.
Commissioner Šefčovič will sit down with Julia Friedlander, C. Boyden Gray senior fellow and director of the Economic Statecraft Initiative at the Atlantic Council GeoEconomics Center, to discuss these challenges and elaborate on his vision for the international foresight alliance. Amb. Richard L. Morningstar, Global Energy Center Founding Chairman and former US ambassador to the European Union, will provide welcoming remarks.
