For Your Freedom and Ours - Public Viewing

Join the Delegation of the EU to the US for a guided tour by the Czech Embassy's cultural counselor of our fantastic new exhibit focusing on the struggle for freedom in Europe during the Communist era! The Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes collected over 20 interviews with former citizens of the Warsaw pact countries who took part in the protests against the invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968. Their testimonies together with hundreds of documents collected from the Soviet, Polish, Hungarian, German, Bulgarian, and Czech secret services archives and personal archives are the basis of this fascinating first-hand look into the invasion. In conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the invasion, there are over a dozen panels that are dedicated to selected protesters from various countries and of different nationalities. Each panel dives into the form of protest the person chose, his or her motives, the punishment that followed, and their fate.

We hope you will be able to join us to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Prague Spring during one of the following dates:

Wednesday May 16, noon-3pm

Thursday May 24, noon-3pm
