French Series - The Syrian Crisis: Migration and Refugee Challenges

french syriaThe Syrian crisis, raging since March 2011, has resulted in more than 100,000 casualties and the displacement of millions of Syrians. The intensification of fighting has generated a constant flow of displaced people and refugees into neighboring countries, Europe and western countries. These populations find themselves without any means of survival and no longer have access to health facilities.

Taking advantage of the visit of the Director general of Doctors of the World in Turkey, Mr. Hakan Bilgin, the French Embassy is pleased to invite you to our next French Series panel discussion event to discuss the situation of migrants and refugees, from Syria or elsewhere through Turkey or transiting countries until their settlement in western countries.

The panel discussion will be moderated by:

Arshad Mohammed, Diplomatic Correspondent for Reuters

with

Hakan Bilgin, President of Doctors of the World Turkey

Gideon Maltz, Executive Director of the TENT Foundation

Leila Hilal, Senior Fellow at The New America Foundation

Audrey Singer, Senior Fellow at the Urban Institute's Metropolitan Housing and Communities Policy Center
