Glory and Gratitude to the United States - American philanthropy and Belgian civilians in WWI

CIC Belgium May 2017 cropped

Few people know that an unprecedented international humanitarian effort took place during WWI. As early as 1914, thousands of Belgian and American volunteers pulled together under the leadership of future President Hoover and saved millions from starvation.  Professor Tammy Proctor's presentation about the ‘Glory and Gratitude to the United States’ exhibit at the European Union Delegation, will reveal a glimpse of the lives of children, women and civilians during WWI : their daily struggles, their remarkable solidarity, their gratitude towards the United States, their hopes for peace.

This program is in conjunction with the Embassy of Belgium.
