As part of Unexpected Italy, the Festival organized by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Washington, D.C. and the Italian Cultural Institute, phantasmagorical singer-songwriter, poet, writer, illusionist and showman Vinicio Capossela arrives for the first time in the United States, presenting Ballate per poveri Cristi (Ballads for wretched souls), a folk journey through Italy and America, hooked on the strings of a guitar and piano trio, on the routes of the “wretched souls” who crossed the boundary between rural world and cities, man and animal, the living and the dead.
