Sing, Dance, Listen and Learn with Finland’s Lovable Moomins!
Straight from the Moominvalley comes a plethora of events surrounding some of Finland’s most popular characters! This series of online events will offer educational immersions into animation, storytelling, and more through interactions with the Moomins and those who bring them to life!

Wonderfully Weird Instruments!
Have you ever wondered how the sounds for animations are made? What kind of instruments are used? Now is your chance to find out! Producer, percussionist, and composer Samuli Kosminen shows us some of the rather unusual instruments used on the Moominvalley score – featuring dried chilies, design chairs, and jawbones of sheep, among other things. Discover the secrets of an animation’s music score!
Creating the Moominvalley Animation
Join Moominvalley director, Jay Grace, in a livestream to hear all about how the award-winning Moominvalley TV series (2019) came to life! You will experience Moominvalley’s creative process behind-the-scenes. You start by following the path of production with a script excerpt through various stages from character sketches to 3D props. You’ll conclude the journey with a glimpse of what the final Moominvalley animation feels and looks like! See how the stories transformed from text to a gorgeous animation and learn a few tricks on how to draw a Moomin by yourself. [Jay Grace is an award-winning Director and Animator with over 25 years of experience in the animation industry. He’s known predominantly for his work with the Oscar®-winning animation studio Aardman. His notable credits include films Chicken Run and Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and over 20 episodes of the highly successful TV series Shaun the Sheep, which earned him a BAFTA in 2014].
Moomin Storytime with Sophia Jansson: The Invisible Child
Listen to Sophia Jansson, Tove Jansson’s niece, read the beloved Moomin short story about the Invisible Child. In this wonderful story, the isolated Ninny is helped to regain her voice and take her rightful place in the world using a simple Moomin recipe. She is welcomed into the Moomin family and treated with equality and respect. Because of their thoughtfulness, Ninny gets her confidence back and turns visible, bit-by-bit. Sing Along to the Moominvalley Theme Song!
